Making runs to Tropical Smoothie Cafe seems to be all my kids do. I have made it my mission to make their favorite Tropical Smoothie Cafe Smoothies at home. First out of the gate is the Sunset Sunrise Smoothies. A combination of frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple, and frozen mango with orange and pineapple juice makes the best Tropical Smoothie Cafe Sunrise Sunset smoothie.
These smoothies are great for on the go-breakfasts and fun ways to get lots of fruit into your kids. The smoothies can have yogurt added for protein and even protein or fiber supplements. A sneaky and yummy way to get even more nutrition into everyone's diets.

How to Make a Tropical Smoothie Cafe Sunrise Sunset Smoothie at Home
The process of making a smoothie is not hard with the right blender and ingredients. My freezer is always full of frozen fruit and the Ninja Blender with Blender cups always sets on my counter.
Combine the three frozen fruits in a blender or blender cups.
Pour the juices over the top of the frozen fruit.
Place the blender lid on the cup and blend. You may need to stir the fruit and juice combination after 30 seconds. Blend the sunrise sunset smoothie again.
Pour the sunrise sunset smoothie into a cup and use a large smoothie straw. Stir in extra juices for the thinness you desire. Garnish with extra frozen fruit pieces.
These smoothies can be made in a single serve or a blender capacity size. Just double or triple the amounts depending on the number of smoothies you need.
Hint: Have the frozen fruit set on the counter for several minutes before making the smoothie. This will allow for the juices to start to come from the fruit but yet make a frozen smoothie.
Smoothie Variations from Tropical Smoothie Cafe
If you are looking for more ideas on smoothie recipes from Tropical Smoothie, here are some variations that would work easily from this base recipe.
- Creamy Sunset Sunrise Smoothie - add pineapple or mango Greek yogurt to the smoothie
- Mango Magic Smoothie - add vanilla Greek yogurt and leave out the strawberries for a mango magic smoothie.
- Paradise Point Smoothie - Use frozen strawberries and bananas with frozen pineapple and pineapple juice for the paradise point smoothie.
Smoothie Making Equipment
The right blender matters. That doesn't mean it has to be an over-the-top blender. My Ninja Blender has been a great investment over the last four years. Here are my smoothie making equipment recommendations.
Set the fruit out for several minutes before making the Sunrise Sunset smoothie to make sure the pineapple, mango, and strawberries are starting to melt a bit so the natural juices in the fruit are able to help with the blending process.
Fresh fruit can be used in this smoothie. Make sure the fruit is cold. The smoothie just won't be frozen. You could add ice to make it frozen, but it may water down the flavors of the smoothie.
